The Wholias

Off the back of their amazing performance at the Adelaide City Council’s New Year’s Eve celebration 2011‐2012 in Elder Park, The Wholias will be back. Yes Back at Casablabla to show you how they do it – latin style.

The Wholias are a Latin roots funk rock fusion band. Their music combines Latin rhythms (salsa, cumbia, samba) and funk rock, with touches of reggae, ska and Latin jazz, creating a broad range of sounds in a uniquely rich mix, often difficult to categorise into traditional music genres. They are highly influenced by classic (e.g. Santana) and contemporary Latin artists (e.g. Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Carlos Vives, Juanes).

Formed in Adelaide, in 2008, the line‐up features ‐ Roberto Garcia (Peru), vocals ‐ Javier Lopez (Peru), guitar ‐ Jose Tortabu (Venezuela), drums ‐ Fernando Marmolejo (Colombia), bass ‐ Fernando Llort (El Salvador), vocals, guitar ‐ Juancho Manrique (Colombia), keyboards. Although all the members originally come from Latin America, all can now be classed as local talent, residing in Adelaide.
